A 22-year-old man accused of murdering a 66-year-old Indian woman while she waited at a bus stop in north-west London was remanded in custody at a hearing on Tuesday.

Anita Mukhey, a part-time medical secretary for the National Health Service (NHS), was waiting at the Burnt Oak Broadway bus stop in Edgware, London, last week when Jalal Debella is accused of fatally stabbing her in the chest and neck.

He appeared at the Old Bailey Court in London and will enter his plea of guilty or not guilty at the next hearing in the case scheduled for August. Police were called at around 11:50hrs on Thursday, 9 May, to reports of a stabbing in Burnt Oak Broadway, the Metropolitan Police said

Police were called to Burnt Oak Broadway at 11:50 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, for complaints of stabbing, according to Metropolitan Police. Officers, the London Ambulance Service (LAS), and London’s Air Ambulance (HEMS) all responded to the site, where 66-year-old woman received treatment for knife wounds. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of rescue personnel, she died on the site. The cops claimed they had alerted her family. Debella was detained on suspicion of murder in Colindale, north London, on May 9, and charged with Mukhey’s murder as well as possession of an offensive weapon. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) informed the court that preliminary cause of death was determined to be sharp force injuries to the front of the ches and neck.

Anita Mukhey, 66, was devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who also worked part-time as Medical Secretary for the NHS. Mukhey’s family requested privacy during this difficult time, according to statement released by authorities. According to accounts, members of the public cried and shouted for the suspect to stop as the daylight attack shook the city.
