Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister of Pakistan, announced on Thursday that the country’s days of sending money-strapped officials to friendly countries with “begging bowls” to help ease its financial difficulties were “gone.”
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Sharif made these remarks during a brief visit to the United Arab Emirates.
Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have deep religious and cultural links as well as long-standing brotherly ties. One thing that distinguishes the familial connections between the two countries is the frequency of high-level interactions.
“The days of me traveling to our friendly nations bearing bowls of charity are long gone. Sharif stated, “I have broken that bowl,” during a meeting in the capital of the Gulf state, Abu Dhabi, according to a report from Geo News.
“My dear brother, like your great father you have supported Pakistan like a family member like a brother,” said UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who was not present at the occasion.
However, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Sharif clarified, “I am here in this great country, this brotherly great country, not to seek loans, but to seek joint investments and collaborations.”
The prime minister, whose government began in March, asserted that these collaborations would be advantageous to investors on both sides and that profits would be attained via diligence, ingenuity, and the application of modern tools and knowledge.
The prime minister expressed his desire to replicate the UAE-Pakistani business relationship in advancing the digitalization of the economy, highlighting the importance of empowering youth, who comprise 60% of the nation’s population, through the development of IT skills.
In order to fulfill the legal requirements and enable them to fly to the United Arab Emirates, he promised to provide them with the best vocational training available, utilizing the most recent expertise.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Sharif reiterated the government’s steadfast dedication to completely transforming Pakistan’s economy via collaboration, joint ventures, and information sharing.
The prime minister declared that his administration is focusing all of its efforts on developing artificial intelligence and information technology in Pakistan’s mining and mineral industries, industry, and agriculture in order to boost exports.
The UAE pledged to lend Pakistan USD 2 billion and an extra USD 1 billion in 2023, while the country was still suffering from devastating floods.
China, Pakistan’s “all-weather” ally, has also sent aid to the nation to help it get through its financial challenges.
